As a way to pass our time…and clean up SkarsCentral’s office…AKA The Pit…we’ve decided to have a little fun while, of course, raising money!
Just a signed 8X10 of Alexander Skarsgard…or two…
Yep…you read it right…we’re gonna have two parts to this contest…
This post is lengthy…sorry…but please read it all….
We’re asking you guys to send in your favorite recipe’s. Maybe it’s Mom’s Potato Pancakes…Aunt Edna’s King Bengts Moose Stew or something your Dad created on accident that made him the most popular guy in town! We don’t care…we need a little bit of everything…main dishes…veges…desserts and the last chapter will be set aside for our four legged friends. That’s right…if you have a healthy meal or treat recipe for your furry pal…we want them included too!
Plan is…we’re going to compile those sacred family recipes you so excitedly donate to the site and turn the roundup into a lovely “Skarsworld’s Yummy Book”! A cookbook made by all of us! Once completed…the books will be available for purchase…the profits benefiting a charity of our choice.
We’ve been cleared with the Tall One to pick the recipient ourselves this time.
Since last week was “Be Kind To Animals” week…we’ve decided to run with that and make this all about the fuzzy ones!
We of course asked our expert in all things furry, Mrs. Kristin Bauer van Straten…Alexander’s friend and co-star on True Blood…who she would recommend that needed our help the most…
Kristin got back with The Amanda Foundation – a nonprofit organization that rescues dogs and cats who, through no fault of their own, are spending their last days at City and County Shelters.
And….that’s what we’re going with…
For those of you who are up for the challenge…our cookbook is going to need a cover…
We want an awesome graphic designed to beautify our book, telling the world who we are and what our book is all about.
One thing to keep in mind when designing this cover is that, due to legalities, we cannot use a picture of Alexander himself! The company won’t even allow the use of celebrity photos. Nor can we use any direct reference to his role on True Blood or even his full name!
Another thing to keep in mind is that, after the winner is chosen, some editing may need to occur to the finished design. The books come in a large array of sizes and, depending on how many entries we have, we want to try and keep the costs down so that they’re more affordable to the public (book prices change with the number of pages).
Therefore we are asking that the designs come in a uniform size and we’ll deal with possible editing later.
NOTE: Don’t forget to come up with a title for the book!!!
#1. Anyone anywhere can enter! This contest is not limited to the United States! What we’re actually hoping happens with this is that we fill up the book with recipes from every corner of the world…
#2. You can send in as many recipes as you like but you will only be counted once in the drawing. You can however enter both the Recipe Roundup and the Cookbook Cover Design Challenge, therefore allotting yourself a better chance of winning one of the two 8x10s.
#3. Earn an extra entry into the Recipe Roundup drawing by including a pic of the finished recipe! This will save our design team tons of time if we don’t have to go out and search one down.
#4. Since this is an INTERNATIONAL endeavor…we’ve decided to list both US and Metric instructions in the book. So if you can…convert your measurements and oven temp to include both, it would really aid in our construction of the book. Here is a link that will help you do the conversions yourself —
THAT MEANS ALL RECIPES AND DESIGNS MUST BE IN TO US BEFORE MIDNIGHT CST ON MAY 27TH OR YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED!
That weekend will be used for us loons here to vote on the best cover design and do a random draw amongst the recipe donors.
SOUPS & STEWS
These are what we’re thinking right now but titles may change/be added according to what we get sent.
What you need to include is a list of ingredients and full instructions to prep and cooking. (see example)
NOTE: Remember to include your name and place of origin….
1) By submitting a recipe and/or cover design to this roundup you authorize the printing and mass circulation of the recipe/design through the internet and print media.
2) Any proceeds from the sale of the cookbook will NOT be shared with those providing recipes…all proceeds will be donated to The Amanda Foundation.
3) You agree to these terms and conditions. If you do NOT want grandma’s 100 year old, top secret recipe in print…please don’t submit it.
4) We reserve the right to only submit those recipes we feel are appropriate.
5) We also DO NOT guarantee that each and every recipe will be included in the book.
Example: If 10 Banana Bread recipes come in…only one will be submitted into the book. So this is a first come, first served basis. If this happenstance should occur, we will email the repeat donor and give them the option to submit another more unique recipe.
6) Although you may enter both parts of the contest (Recipe Roundup & Cookbook Cover Design Challenge), you may only win ONCE! We want two separate winners and shall have two! So sayeth the queens of this domain!
So that’s it…
Please feel free to ask any questions and let me know if there’s anything we missed!
