My friend Wendi and I decided to fly to NYC for the film festival – 5pm flight out of Cincinnati, arrive at La Guardia at 7:15pm, taxi to Village East Cinema, meet Skarsgirls Bonnie and Claudine around 8:30pm, await one certain Swede’s hopeful arrival, faint/fawn/drool/gush/smile, maybe see the movie (the movie was sold out so you had to get in line at 9:30pm to standby for tickets to Metropia’s 10:30pm show), grab some pizza, putz around Manhattan, head back to airport by 4am to catch 6am flight home.
We did all of that except for see the movie – my awesome friend and honorary Skarsgirl, Wendi (and coincidentally my boss) offered to get in line for the tickets while we waited for Alex to arrive on the red carpet. The folks running the show said that you had to be present when they let people in if room for the movie (so she couldn’t just buy us tickets). We made the decision to forgo the movie and she joined us over at the end of the red carpet to await Alexander’s arrival.
When he arrived and walked down the red carpet, the folks running the show didn’t seem to think he had much time so they ushered him inside and said he would be back in about 5 minutes after the movie got started and sure enough – voila! Alex in the flesh! He started at the wall and worked his way around to each of us along the barrier at the end of the red carpet…signed if you asked him to sign something, gave a hug if you asked for one, took a pic with you if you wanted…very patient and sweet with all of his fans. My hubby suggested I bring my version of the bookmark I made for you Skarsisters of the site to have autographed – so I did.
When it was my turn, he looked down and saw my Zazzle shirt I got through the web site (I turned it around backwards so the front had the www.alexskarsgard.net showing) and said, “That’s great”, I asked him for an autograph and when he saw the bookmark said, “I like that” then I said, “Jenna and the other Skarsgirls from the web site send their love!” and he responded, “That’s awesome!”. Then I asked if he wouldn’t mind posing with me for a pic and he said “Of course”…Claudine’s husband offered to be my photographer but had trouble with his camera and Alex told him to not worry and take his time, then even said he could take another if he needed to… how sweet is he??
Then it was Claudine’s turn – he signed her magazine and posed for a pic as well…then after Bonnie had a lady take her pic and Alex signed the Details magazine, she asked if he wouldn’t mind answering some questions from some fans of the facebook page…he graciously said “No, go ahead…” he kept signing autographs while answering her questions! I have two shots of him during that period…he enjoyed the questions and sharing the pancake recipe with us
Then as soon as he attended to all of the fans and the remaining media, he was whisked off to some Tribeca parties and missed by all!!! He didn’t stay for the movie – since it is available “On Demand” I have no regrets in choosing the red carpet over the ticket line!
Hope all is well with you and yours – thanks for all of your support!!
